The story goes that horses once roamed the land that is now occupied by the Stratford, Grove Meade, and Hyde Park neighborhoods.  In the early 1960s, the property was purchased, and construction began along Greenwood Trail in Stratford. The first three homes were built in the Spring of 1963, and completion of the street occurred in the late Fall of 1964.

The first seven homes in Hyde Park along Gettysburg Lane, Arlington Terrance, and Brookline were completed by 1966.  By 1967, most of the homes along these three streets were finished, and many were occupied by homeowners.

In 1968, Haverford Lane had thirty-two occupied homes and just a few homes left to be purchased.  Greenwood Trail, Huntington Place and Monticello Way, all in Stratford, had only a few homes built and occupied at this time, while much work was commencing on the far north end of Foxcroft Trail and the southern end of Foxcroft Circle.  Between the two Foxcrofts where homes were being built, there was a large retaining pond that was later filled and developed.  In 1968, Staunton and Sagamore Hills, both in Hyde Park, had around eighteen homes occupied.  With only a few left to sell, Hyde Park was well on the way to completion.  Grove Parkway had eleven homes occupied and the work on the rear area of Grove Meade headed toward completion.

In 1969, the north end of Windgrove had four homes occupied, a few waiting on buyers and several under construction. In 1970, building began at the dead end of Foxcroft Trail.  Homes going up on Leafwood Drive, Heathcliff and Brookside Courts completed the Stratford neighborhood.  By 1970, eleven homes on the north end of Windgrove Road were occupied.  The remaining homes in Grove Meade, consisting of the south end of Windgrove, Valleymeade and the area around the Meadowgrove Swim and Tennis Club, were completed in the early 1970s.

The homes on the southern end of Leafwood Drive in Stratford were completed in 1980.  The homes in the cul-de-sac on Brookline Drive in Hyde Park were completed between 1996 and 2000.

The homes in the neighborhoods were built and sold by several realtors and companies, including Scott Hudgens Realty Company, Christopher and Hayes Real Estate, Bowen Builders and Charles Moon.  Many of the homes were pre-sales where the homeowner purchased the lot and provided plans for the builder.  Many of the original owners still reside in the neighborhoods.  The homes continue to be extremely popular and are some of the best built homes in East Cobb County.
